Archive

The Attica Brothers Foundation archive contains photo and video evidence of the crimes committed by the State of New York on September 13, 1971, including material that the state has tried to hide for more than 50 years. Most of it was held by Elizabeth Fink, radical lawyer and member of Attica Brothers Legal Defense, before being donated to the Foundation by her estate.

The archive also contains dozens of interviews with surviving Attica Brothers, lawyers, family members, and supporters that were filmed in recent years through a partnership with the New York City chapter of the National Lawyers Guild. These vital records preserve the voices of the Attica Brothers themselves, and present their perspectives without filters or gatekeepers.

Through these two elements - oral record keeping and visual evidence - the Foundation archive tells the story of Attica in ways no other organization can.

Elements from the archive were used in Attica by Stanley Nelson and Traci Curry, Betrayal at Attica by Michael Hull, and Blood in the Water by Heather Ann Thompson.
